Tour Description
The citadel of Machu Picchu is the most important tourist attraction of Cusco. Now known as one of the “Seven Wonders of the World” or “Navel of the World”, it is currently considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is the most visited destination in Peru for having extraordinary architectural and landscape samples, preserving a peculiar Flora and fauna.
Machu Picchu is located in the Department of Cusco, on an area of approximately 32,592 hectares. Place where it would have been one of the residences of rest of Pachacutec that was the First Inca of the Tahuantinsuyo nevertheless it shows its better constructions and the evident ceremonial character that would demonstrate that this one was used like a Religious Sanctuary.
Itinerary
Day 1: travel from Cusco to Aguas Calientes and overnight.
We will pass by your hotel in the City of Cusco 2 ½ hours before the departure of your Train (Private transport or tourist service), and we will take you to the train station, located in the town of Ollantaytambo, then we will board the train of the company “INCARAIL or PERU RAIL” and we will start the trip from Ollantaytambo to the village of “Aguas Calientes” (2,000 masl aprox.) Which lasts 2 hours, where our guide will be waiting for you to drive to the hotel or hostel where you can settle And set up for your convenience.
After staying in the hostel or hotel you will have all afternoon free and part of the night where you can do activities like shopping in the artisan market of Aguas Calientes and then you can visit part of the town of Aguas Calientes and also the thermal baths of Machu Picchu village (entrance ticket extra cost), then will go to the hotel where the guide will give you the respective breefing for your visit the next day and you can spend the night.
Day 2:
You will have breakfast at the hotel or hostel of your choice and then with him guide we will go to the bus station (bus ticket included), to ascend 400 m. Of altitude, by a zigzagging road, for 30 minutes until arriving at the incredible world wonder “The Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
Upon reaching the citadel of Machu Picchu, we will pass through the control, where we will deliver our revenue tickets (included) and where we will begin our guided tour, visiting the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the cemetery, approximately for more than two hours with our Guide in private or in group. Then you will be given free time, to take a walk through the archaeological center to descend to the village of hot waters via bus (bus ticket included) to, ingest their food (LUNCH or DINNER).
After lunch you will have the afternoon free to visit the whole town of Aguas Calientes and 1 hour before departure time we will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo to be at the station of Aguas Calientes where the train will be waiting for you to be approached , Then once you make the trip you will arrive to the village of Ollantaytambo where (Private transport or tourist transport), you will be waiting to be able to continue in a transfer until arriving at the city of Cusco.
